Privacy policy

Cover Art Market is run by Cover Art Market Inc., a Canadian company. This policy covers the store at coverartmarket.com and coverartmarket.app.

What we collect

When you buy a cover we collect your email address, the song title and artist name you want on the cover, and any release details you add: advisory badge choice, label name, producer credit, genre, release date, notes, and any logo, photo, song file or lyrics you upload for your order. That is what we need to make and deliver your order.

If you create an account we store your email, your name from Google if you sign in that way, a hashed password if you use one, the covers you like, and your CAM Rewards points and history. Signed-out likes are stored in your browser only, under a random id, until you sign in.

If you join our email list we store your email address and send it to MailerLite, which sends our emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Payment

Payments are processed by Stripe or PayPal. Your card number never touches our servers. Stripe handles the card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link, PayPal handles PayPal payments, and each tells us only that the payment succeeded, the amount, and the email you used. Their privacy policies are at stripe.com/privacy and paypal.com/privacy.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how the store is used, and a first-party visitor counter so we can see how busy the site is and which pages people open, with a rough location (country and city) and the kind of device. It uses a random id for the visit, is kept for 30 minutes, and never leaves our store. We set a session cookie when you sign in, and use your browser's local storage for your cart and likes. If you arrive through a partner's referral link, a cookie remembers that partner for 90 days so they can be credited if you order; it holds only the partner's code and the date. Another cookie notes how you first found the store (for example an email, a partner's link or a search) for 90 days, so we know which of them bring people in; it holds only that label. For visitors who arrive through a partner's link we also keep, under a random visitor id, the pages they open on this store and how long each was open, cart and like changes, and whether they sign up, join the newsletter or order, with the kind of device, the app the link was opened in and a rough location (country and city); no IP address is kept. We do not run advertising trackers and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

Who we share with

Order information is shared with the designer of the cover you bought (song title, artist name, and your release details, not your email) so they can finish the artwork. We also use these services to run the store, and each processes data only to provide their service to us:

Stripe and PayPal for payments; Railway to host the store and its database; Cloudflare to deliver the site and store images and the files you upload; Resend for order and account emails; MailerLite for our email list; Google for analytics and sign-in; Sentry for error reports when something breaks on the site (technical details of the error, not your personal information); and Anthropic, whose AI reads what you type into the search box so we can show matching covers.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for as long as we operate, so you can re-download your files and we can meet tax obligations. You can ask us to delete your account, likes and uploaded files at any time; order records required for accounting are retained for the legally required period.

Your rights

Under Canada's PIPEDA and, if you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR, you can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. If you are unsatisfied you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your local data protection authority.
